Leiden from Dutch: Leidse Kaas, is a Dutch-made
cheese from cow's milk peppered with cumin. Made in factories and farms,
historic in Leiden area.
Leidse Kaas is the most
common type of komijnekaas - cheese with cumin ingredients - in the
Netherlands.
The cheese is round and flat
like Gouda Cheese, but is made with sharp edges on one side and less round at
its side. This cheese has a low fat percentage (30 to 40%). The weight of
cheese varies from 3 kg to 9 kg.
