Hot dogs (frankfurter, frank, wiener, weenie)
are a kind of sausage that is cooked or smoked and has a finer texture and a
softer and moist taste than most sausages. Hot dogs are often eaten by hand
(fingerfood), especially in the United States, and are usually eaten with soft
bread (bun) in the same shape as sausages, sometimes with spices and toppings.
Sandwiches formed from this combination are also called hot dogs.
