Haver (Avena sativa L.), also known as oats, is a fairly important cereals in
subtropical and temperate climates. The resulting grain (called haver too) is
used as food and feed (especially horses). In Indonesia the product is known
from a kind of porridge introduced by Dutch colonists, known as oatmeal.

Haver is a domestication of the semi-wild type Avena fatua that has been
cultivated in the early iron age and is the main food source of that era in
Western Asia and Europe.
