Cacciatore
(pronounced [kattʃatoːre]) means "hunter" in Italian. In cooking
terms, alla cacciatora refers to food prepared "hunter-style" with
onions, spices, usually tomatoes, often with peppers, and sometimes wine.
Cacciatore is
often made with boiled chicken (pollo alla cacciatora) or rabbit (coniglio alla
cacciatora). Salamino cacciatore is a small salami flavored with garlic and
pepper.
