Tteokguk
(떡국) is a wick that has rice cake. Tteokguk
means rice cake soup, usually served at the celebration of Seollal or Lunar New
Year in Korea. The content of this dish is mainly tteok plus chives, beef and
fried eggs.
If it is ripe, the rice cake will be seen floating in the sauce and ready to serve. In addition to being eaten at Seollal, tteokguk also enjoyed on the day (Daeboreum). On these special days tteokguk eaten with mandutguk (mandu soup).
