Soba (蕎麦 or そ
ば?)
Is one type of Japanese noodles made from horsemanseed. In Japanese, horse
cereal grain cereals are also called "buckwheat". In addition, the
term "buckwheat" can also mean Chinese egg noodles cooked into
yakisoba or ramen.
The Japanese have a
tradition of eating buckwheat on New Year's Eve. The buckwheat that is eaten on
New Years Eve is called toshikoshi-soba (soba miss the year). There is also a
tradition of eating soba when newly moved house. Soba is eaten to celebrate a
new residence called hikkoshi-soba (soba relocation).
