Pitha (ପିଠା ପିଠା, ପିଠା, Assam: পিঠা, Bengali: পিঠা piṭha), (Sanskrit: पिष्टा, अपूप) or ​​fita (Sylheti) is a kind of pastry from the eastern Indian subcontinent, especially in Bangladesh as well as in Odisha, Assam, Bengal West, Jharkhand and Bihar in India. 


Pitha is usually made from rice flour, although some are made from wheat flour. In addition, there is one type of pitha is more rarely made, namely pitha made from pinang-pinangan or ol.


Pitha is usually formed and filled according to the will. The contents of pitha are called "pur". The contents are cauliflower, cabbage, radish or potatoes. For a sweet pitha, it can be sugar, coconut or pistacio. Sweet pitha is often added with cardamom flavor.


Pitha can be fried, baked, boiled or roasted (depending on the type of pitha to be made). Pitha is usually eaten for breakfast or as a snack (along with tea), although there is also a sweet pitha made as a dessert.
