Neuropsychology is
a field of clinical and experimental psychology that seeks to study the
relationship between brain structure and function with psychological processes
and behavior. The term neuropsychology has been used to research lesions in
humans and animals. The term is also applied to the attempt to record the
electrical activity of individual cells (or groups of cells) in primates
(including humans).
The neuropsychological
approach is scientific, uses neuroscience, and has a viewpoint on information
processing that is aligned with cognitive psychology and cognitive science.
Neuropsychologists usually
work at research sites (such as universities, laboratories, or research
institutes), clinics, forensics, or industry (as consultants for product design
related to neuropsychological knowledge or clinical trial management in
pharmaceutical companies for drugs that may impact on function central nerve
