Mozartkugel or
Mozart Ball is a type of spherical chocolate in which the contents of nuts
pisctachio and marzipan. The cake was first made in 1890 in Salzburg by a cake
maker named Paul Fürst, who named it from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, who was born
in the city. The original name is Mozartbonbon which was later changed to
Mozartkugel.
Unfortunately, Paul Fürst
did not know that the name "Mozartkugel" would be used by others who
modeled his product and used the name "Mozartkugel". After several
times reporting the case to court, it was finally agreed that only the Fürst
company use the product name "Original Salzburger Mozartkugeln".
Another Mozartkugel company
uses its product name "Echte Salzburger Mozartkugel" (Genuine
Salzburg Mozartkugel) currently used by the Austrian company Mirabell and
"Echte Reber-Mozartkugeln" (Genuine Reber Mozartkugeln) made by
German company Reber in Bad Reichenhall since 1938. Reber exports Mozartkugeln
to 40 countries and make as many as 500,000 items per day.
