Larb (Lao language: ລາບ;
Thai: ลาบ,

or lahb) is a typical Laos
mince salad dish. This dish is considered Laotian national cuisine. This dish
is also found in the province of Isan, Thailand, which inhabited Laos tribe.
Variations of larb dishes are also found among Thai tribes in Shan state,
Myanmar, and Yunnan province, China.
The term "larb"
which is now associated with the meaning of "luck" in Lao and Thai,
actually has the origin of the word from the Lanna Thai North language which
means "minced meat".
