Dasik
(다식) is a kind of Korean traditional cake
made by pressed using a mold. These cakes are served at special occasions such
as on the 60th anniversary celebration (hwangap) or wedding ceremony. In
addition, this cake is also presented at ritual ceremonies to the ancestral
spirits on a big day like Seollal and Chuseok with other food and drinks.
Dasik is made from a mixture
of peanut flour dough, sesame, chestnut, syrup and honey. Dasik dough is
pressed by pressing using a patterned mold to form patterns that are considered
to symbolize health and prosperity.
