Angsana
or
sonokembang (Pterocarpus indicus) is a kind of high quality wood producing tree
from the tribe of Fabaceae (= Leguminosae, legumes). The wood is hard, reddish,
and heavy enough, which in trade is grouped as narra or rosewood.
In various regions, angsana
is known by similar names: asan (Aceh); sena, sona, hasona (Batak); asana,
there, langsano, lansano (Min.); angsana, babaksana (Btw.); there flowers (Jw.,
Md.). However, nara (Bima, Seram), nar, na, ai na (Tim.), Nala (Seram, Haruku),
lana (Buru), lala, lalan (Amb.), Ligua (Ternate, Tidore, Halm.) , linggua
