Ablasio is
a state of detachment of the sensory retina of the retinal pigment epithelium
(RIDE). this condition is a serious eye problem and can occur at any age,
although it usually occurs in middle-aged or older people.
Retinal detachment is more
likely to occur in people who suffer from myopia (nearsightedness) and in
people with family members who have experienced retinal detachment. Retinal
detachment may also be caused by other eye diseases, such as tumors, severe
inflammation, trauma or complications of diabetes.
In the absence of
immediate action, a retinal detachment may cause visual impairment or
persistent blindness. The retina is a thin, light-sensitive transparent tissue,
composed of cells and nerve fibers. The retina lining the inner eye wall,
functioning like a film on a photo camera, the light through the lens will be
focused on the retina. These light-sensitive retinal cells capture the "image"
and channel it to the brain through the optic nerve.
